(Saginite - An acicular variety of rutile occurring in groups of crystals crossing at 60 degrees and often enclosed in quartz or other minerals.)

$Dave Englund > Lake Superior Agate. Note the crystal impression (lower left). Again, what appear to be fractures running up the face and branching out at the top are simply edges of reflections. Someone did an outstanding job of polishing this rock - the face and banding are remarkably smooth and clear.$

Very colorful and it would seem the rock's natural colors as none are predominant. That's usually the first sign of a dyed or baked rock.

By the way, this rock is not face-polished. I have a slice of this same rock that was polished. It's quite unusual to get both a slice and the original rock it came from.
