Dave Englund > 2oz Lake Superior Agate; 5.2cm x 3.4cm x2.5cm. A fine little water polished agate with multiple fractures.
Dave Englund > 3.6 oz Lake Superior Agate (Saginite); 6cm x 5cm x 3cm. Also, note crystal impressions in lower-center. (Saginite - An acicular variety of rutile occurring in groups of crystals crossing at 60 degrees and often enclosed in quartz or other minerals.)
Dave Englund > 5.4oz Lake Superior Agate; 7.5cm x 6.3cm x 2.3cm. This amazing slab agate was one of four I purchased in a lot at an auction. It was the first time I spent anything significant for rocks, probably on the order of $40-$50 for the lot. Now, this agate alone would easily capture $200-$250. It is flater than this shot would led you to believe, the curved appearance moving toward the rear is due to camera angle.
Dave Englund > Lake Superior Agate. Note the crystal impression (lower left). Again, what appear to be fractures running up the face and branching out at the top are simply edges of reflections. Someone did an outstanding job of polishing this rock - the face and banding are remarkably smooth and clear.

Dave Englund > Another Brazilian agate; 19cm x 11.7cm x 4.4cm. Very colorful and it would seem the rock's natural colors as none are predominant. That's usually the first sign of a dyed or baked rock. By the way, this rock is not face-polished. I have a slice of this same rock that was polished. It's quite unusual to get both a slice and the original rock it came from.
